Monsoon 4 -- Movie!

8.05.2006 at 11:00 PM

This is the highest I've ever seen the river. That makes sense since it's the most water ever to have flown through the Rillito River in Tucson, AZ.

This has been a pretty good monsoon season this year, even though it kind of dropped off in the middle for a while.

Monsoon 2

This morning on the public radio station they cleared up the issue about this being the most water to ever flow through the Rillito in recorded history.

Yesterday I heard on television that this was the most water ever, but I wondered how that could be since the river has flooded before.

On the public radio station they explained that this is, in fact the most water ever, and the reason it didn't spill out of its banks is that the river was widened in key locations since the floods of 1993 and 1983.

Expatriate Tucsonans and even current Tucsonans will appreciate this one. On the news they said that this was the most water flowing through the Rillito in recorded history. I don't know if that's true, and it sounds odd since it's flooded before, but that's what they said on the local NBC affiliate today at 5:00 pm.

First Avenue and the Rillito River. Notice in the satellite photo the river is usually dry.

Hurt Foot

7.30.2006 at 5:28 PM

Back in September or October of 2005 I broke my toe.

I was playing "Flying Diaper Dog" and I crashed into an ottoman. In that game, I hold the baby up like Superman and I fly him all over the place fighting imaginary crime. Usually we do alright, but in this case, the enemy prevailed.
